Alhambra Fine Art Print
Nasrid Palace Ceiling, Grenada, Spain
Alhambra Fine Art Print. During a recent family trip to Italy and Spain, we were fortunate enough to visit stunning locations, many of which we had never seen before. We started in Montepulciano, Italy, our favorite Tuscan wine Village and then met our daughter in Florence, Italy, cradle of the Renaissance. After Italy, we traveled to the Andalucia region of Spain, where we visited, Cordoba, Grenada, Ronda, and Seville. I’ve recently released a beautiful Cordoba Spain fine art photograph. While in Grenada, we visited the famed Alhambra complex. It was one of the highlights of our vacation and should not be missed when visiting Andalucia. Alhambra is heaped with history and the craftsmanship is beyond compare.
Alhambra was built during the Nasrid Dynasty, which ruled the Emirate of Grenada from 1230- 1492. The crowing jewel of the Alhambra Fortress complex is the Nasrid Palaces. Advance ticket purchase is essentially mandatory and admission with tickets is only valid during a 30 minute window. Failure to arrive during the 30 minute window forfeits your ticket and your purchase payment. Get tickets well in advance and arrive on time!
The Nasrid Palaces are famed for their unparalleled architectural detail. It is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. This newest fine art print was captured in the Hall of Two sisters, which is part of the Palace of the Lions. The detail in this hall is exquisite, mind boggling. See the image at left for a small example of the detail captured in my new Alhambra Fine Art print.
The Arabic scroll details on the vertical wall add detail and build drama as the wall climbs toward the dome which is intensified by countless stalactite figures, a stunning vertical octagram shaft, capped with a triumphant stalactite dome illuminated by 16 symmetrically placed windows. It is magnificent!
While I was in Grenada, I was fortunate to capture a stunning Alhambra Sunset photograph.
