“Beachhenge” Bandon Beach, Oregon Coast
Ancient Seastacks awakened by the first light of day, Bandon Oregon
Bandon Beach, on the Southern Oregon Coast is famous for its amazing seastacks. I’ve traveled to Bandon multiple times in the past for the sake of recreation and landscape photography. While I’ve immensely enjoyed my visits to this charming seaside town, I have not captured an image that has excited me until a recent trip in the autumn of 2018. During late fall autumn, weather conditions on Oregon’s Coast tend to be….. dreary. With gray an drizzly weather, scenes tend to lack detail and color. A few years ago, I made an effort to closely track weather conditions on the Oregon Coast and had a very successful trip to another beautiful Oregon Coast town, Cannon Beach. As a fine art landscape photographer, weather conditions are paramount. As an Oregon Landscape photographer, the beach is always a reasonable distance away but the weather is not always cooperative.
While the entirety of the Oregon Coast is beautiful, I’ve always been attracted to the fantastic collection of sea stacks at Bandon Beach. Face Rock, the Kittens, Table Rock, Elephant Rock, and the Wizard’s Hat( right of center in this fine art print) are some of the better know seastacks in lovely Bandon ,Oregon.
“Beachhenge”, the Capture
Having been to Bandon to enjoy its sea stacks multiple times in the past, I was well aware of this magical grouping. During previous visits the weather had NOT cooperated and I didn’t capture any images that were print worthy. Even during rainy weather, this grouping of seaside monoliths has spoken to me. Strolling in their midst is rejuvenating. I get a similar sensation when enjoying time in ancient old growth forests. I feel better about the world after I’ve left than I did before I arrived. They simply emit and share an energy that is palpable. On my most recent visit to Bandon Beach, I was gifted the sunrise you seen in this new fine art landscape photograph. Clear skies to the east, a low marine layer of clouds holding the warm first light of day and a whimsical arrangement of high cirrus clouds to add interest in the sky. A truly magical scene that I am honored to have captured. Please use the drop down menus to the right to select print sizes and print surfaces for your very own fine art print of Beachhenge!
