Chimney Rock Panorama,Fine Art Print
Chimney Rock,Courthouse Mountain, the Sneffels Range in a sea of golden aspen trees seen from Cimarron Ridge
In Southern Colorado lies an offshoot of the San Juan Mountains known as Cimarron Ridge. The featured formation on Cimarron Ridge is Chimney Rock, made famous by the 1969 John Wayne movie, True Grit.
Chimney Rock lies to the west of Cimarron Ridge and forms a saddle seen to its left in this Chimney Ridge Panorama, know as Owl Creek Pass. The famous shoot-out scene in True Grit was filmed in Deb’s Meadow, near the base of Chimney Rock, which serves as a scenic backdrop. the sweeping Aspen covered ridge lines of Owl Creek Pass made for a stunning autumn capture. I discovered this stunning composition while on a photography road trip to the San Juan Mountain of Southern Colorado. The entire area was awash with glowing aspen groves and burnt orange scrub oak stands.
Location for this Chimney Rock Panorama is off trail and requires a long steep scramble to attain this elevated vantage point. More information about the capture of this image can be found at Chimney Rock Sunset fine art print
