McKenzie River Fine Art Print

Willamette National Forest, Oregon

Oregon’s stunning McKenzie River flows from Clear Lake on the west side of Oregon’s Cascade Crest. This magical body of water had a tumultuous and gorgeous first few miles as it cascades down Sahalie Falls, numerous unnamed waterfalls( seen in this new  Fine art print), and Koosah Falls before it goes completely subterranean and then re-emerges at the Iconic Tamolitch Pool, AKA the Blue Pool.

McKenzie River Rapids in Autumn

McKenzie River Rapids in Autumn

The location of this beautiful new fine art print is along a scenic stretch of Oregon Route 126

The McKenzie is a 90 mile long tributary of Oregon’s Willamette River, named after a Scottish Canadian fur-trader and explorer, Donald McKenzie,

Paralleled by an eponymous River Trail, this segment of the river is fantastic in all seasons but is often aglow with fall color during the month of October.

This enchanting area of Oregon is blessed with brilliant blue waters, hiking trails and Old Growth forests, making it a favorite of both local and visitors.

The Fine Art Photograph

One of the elusive goals I strive towards with my landscape photography is to capture the essence of the special places I visit. What are the critical elements of a given place? Crashing waves?Arid sands? Towering Peaks? For this section of the McKenzie River, I consider the critical elements to be blue tinted waters crashing over lava flows, and old growth forest filled with the sweet aroma of decaying organic matter.  This wonderful new fine art print captures everything except the aroma!  Is there a scratch and sniff app for websites? This new print is also a textural smorgasboard. Vertical lines of Cedar and Doug Fir intersect with the delicate spongy texture of moss covered rock, while river water crashes over lava rock, creating elegant, dancing details. All of this intricacy is difficult to bring to live in a relatively small web size image file. To enjoy the full beauty of this new fine art landscape photograph, one must view one of my large, stunning prints from this magical location!  For more information about this print or others I have available, feel free to contact me through the Contact Page on my website.
