Description
“Mountain Stream”, Three Fingered Jack
Mt Jefferson Wilderness Area
This magical mountain stream is located high on the flanks of Three Fingered Jack in the Oregon Cascades. Lined with a gorgeous array of Indian Paintbrush, Monkeyflowers and Senecio, this little stream created the perfect burbling harmony for a stunning landscape photograph. Three Fingered Jack is actually located within the Mt Jefferson Wilderness area. Now home to a population of Mountain goats and the occasional black bear, this mountain is a hikers paradise.
The stream flows through one of Oregon’s great wildflower meadows which are located in the magical Canyon Creek Meadow, which is pictured to the left.
I captured this image while on a backpacking trip to Canyon Creek Meadow with my wife Debbie and daughter, Emma.
At the time, Emma was only 8 years old but the hike to the meadow was well within her abilities.
In the upper left hand corner of this fine art print is a moraine behind which is a turquoise color lake that is frequented by the local mountain goat herd.
In addition to the enchanting stream, I love the abundant wildflowers, the intricate striations on the vertical spires of Three Fingered Jack and the light puffy clouds hovering over the mountain top.
