Bog Laurel flourish along the shores of Hosmer Lake under an onlooking Mt Bachelor

Wildflowers in Central Oregon  arrive early in desert areas east of the cascades and late along the Cascade Crest. Western Bog Laurel are amongst the earliest sub alpine wildflowers along the Cascade Crest. Bog Laurel blossoms vary dramatically from year to year, often alternating sparse blooming years with epic blooming years. The spring of 2024 was an epic bloom year for these pink beauties. In every direction I could see large groupings of dense pink wildflowers.

I really like the textural variation in this landscape photograph. The dense mounds of Bog Laurel juxtaposed against the light, feathery texture of the young lodgepole pines. The detail in the prints of this beautiful new image is impeccable and at a large scale, the scene really comes to life!
