Wizard’s Hat, Bandon Beach Fine Art Print

Incoming waves at sunrise on the Oregon Coast

Bandon Oregon is one of my favorite beach towns in the world. Small, quaint, filled with amenities amazing beaches and… Sea stacks!  The most enchanting collection of seastacks I’ve ever seen. One of my personal favorite sea stacks on Bandon Beach is the Wizard’s Hat , seen centered in my newest fine art photograph of Bandon Beach. Another new fine art photograph of Bandon is is titled Beachhenge, because of the spiritual, rejuvenating feeling I get while wandering through that particular grouping of sea stacks.

this newest fine art print features the Wizard’s Hat, an impossibly pointy sea stack that tends to be near wave level. It is simply enchanting. That this volcanic rock feature has been eroding for millions of years and we get to enjoy it in this particular shape seems impossible.  We are lucky.

During this particular adventure to Bandon Beach, I was blessed with excellent weather. Sunny and 60 degrees is always welcome on the rugged Oregon Coast. Because of the spectre of Covid 19, I did not got out to eat but I spent mornings and evenings seeking compositions in a glorious and socially distanced setting.

Wizards Hat , the Capture

Various  elements came together remarkably well in the capturing of this beautiful new fine art landscape photograph. I wanted a dynamic image embodying the perpetual motion of the Pacific Ocean. I wanted Wizard’s Hat to be the focal point and I wanted warm sunrise color to add some depth and spark to the scene.  Because it was November, there were very few people visiting Bandon Beach, so I didn’t have to contend with people milling about in my scope of view. The marine layer of clouds low in the sky, warmed by the first light of morning and a few wispy cirrus clouds higher in the sky provided a burst of color. The dynamic effect took some time but I got the look I was after with a single clean wave imbuing my image with a sense of motion. I hope you love this image as much as I do.
